Repairing Front Plastic on a 2017 Polaris Sportsman 450 HO

When you need an ATV to service your property, you may discover that buying an ATV is not cheap for your pocketbook. Days of the $2500 ATV are long gone. When searching Craigslist, Facebook marketplace, eBay etc. etc. you will be lucky to find a used, well maintained, and halfway decent condition for under $6,000.

New ATVs are in the range of $7600+ for a 4wd model from just about any brand. My goal was to find a Honda foreman, well that is next to impossible… but I did find this Polaris locally and I was first in line of 5 people who contact him with cash.

One lesson I will pass on. I have learned if you need / want an item never get in a hurry. The sales mans mentality is to create a sense of urgency. This enforces the high price point he has and uses your emotions against you. However, if YOU save your cash for your purchase it puts you in the drivers seat. You control the offer and you control if you feel comfortable with letting go of the cash in exchange for the object. Financing only leads you down the path of the sales guy. They always win with financing.

That patience lead me to this ATV with 168 miles on it, lower hours and really ready to buy. It needed some repairs. I was able to work out a deal at $4K (ask was $5250) then I needed to spend $900 in repair / replacement parts for the front plastic. This cost was for factory OEM parts not aftermarket.
